Targeted LED Light Therapy for Home Use

Professional Portable LED Device is La Lei's targeted light therapy tool — seven wavelength modes in a handheld, portable design, for focused attention on the areas that need it most. A flexible addition to your routine, at home or on the go.

What Is LED Light Therapy?

LED light therapy uses light-emitting diodes to deliver specific wavelengths of light to the skin — a category that spans full-face masks like La Lei's LED Face Mask through to handheld, targeted tools like this one. Wavelengths are categorised by colour, and different colours are traditionally associated with different areas of focus, which is why multi-wavelength devices exist at all.

You'll often see the term photobiomodulation alongside LED light therapy — it describes how certain wavelengths, typically red and near-infrared, interact with the skin's cells. It's used broadly across the category, from cosmetic devices to clinical research, though the strength of evidence varies by wavelength, dose and application studied.

Meet the Seven Wavelengths

Seven wavelength modes in a compact, handheld design — offering more range than a single-colour device, and giving you the flexibility to focus on the area and mode that suits your routine. Full detail on each of the seven modes is coming soon as we finalise and publish our specifications. In the meantime, see our guide to choosing an LED device for what's worth checking before you buy.

Wavelength category General association
Red The wavelength most commonly associated with LED light therapy generally.
Near-infrared (NIR) Invisible to the eye, often paired with red light, generally considered to reach further beneath the skin's surface.
Blue Shorter wavelength, more typically discussed in the context of surface-level use.
Green, yellow & purple/violet Additional categories commonly offered on multi-mode devices in this category, each with its own general colour-based association in broader industry and research use.

For a closer look at how red and near-infrared specifically differ, see Red vs Near-Infrared Light Therapy.

How to Use

Cleanse skin, then apply to the targeted area for 10–15 minutes per session.

As with LED devices generally, direct contact with cleansed, product-free skin is typically recommended so the light can reach the skin as intended.

Who It's For

The Portable LED Device is a targeted, flexible tool — ideal for focusing on a specific area, layering light therapy into an existing routine, or taking your ritual with you. If you're looking for an easy, full-face ritual instead, the LED Face Mask offers full coverage in one session — see the comparison below, or browse the full LED Light Therapy range.

Face Mask vs. Portable — Which Is Right for You

Portable LED Device LED Face Mask
Format Handheld, targeted device Full-face wearable mask
Coverage Targeted areas — face, neck or body Full face, in one session
Session length ~10–15 minutes per area ~20 minutes
Best for Targeted attention, or layering into an existing routine An easy, passive full-face ritual

Both devices offer red and near-infrared light therapy. The key difference is how they're designed to be used: the Portable Device gives you the flexibility to focus on individual areas of the face, neck or body, while the Face Mask provides full-face coverage in one wearable session. Many customers start with the Face Mask and add the Portable Device later for targeted attention — though there's no requirement to own both.

How many wavelength modes does it have, and what do they do?

Seven modes, offering more range than a single-colour device. We're finalising and publishing the full specification for each mode — see Meet the Seven Wavelengths above.

What's the difference between this and the LED Face Mask?

Both devices offer red and near-infrared light therapy. The key difference is how they're designed to be used: the Portable Device gives you the flexibility to focus on individual areas of the face, neck or body, while the Face Mask provides full-face coverage in one wearable session. Many customers start with the Face Mask and add the Portable Device later for targeted attention — though there's no requirement to own both.

Can I use it on my body, not just my face?

Yes — its compact, handheld design is built for use anywhere you'd like to target, including the neck and body.

Is LED light therapy non-invasive?

Yes — LED light therapy doesn't involve needles, punctures or skin abrasion. It's a non-invasive, at-home light-based treatment, with no downtime.
